Lead's Pond Preserve Update

This weekend a notice of public hearing was received by some residents of Plandome Manor citing disposition of the Leeds Pond Preserve property. As the Village office was totally unaware of any such intent by the County I placed a call to Sean Rainey, Deputy Director of Real Estate for Nassau County and also County Legislator Wayne Wink for more information on this hearing notice. They have assured us through both phone conversations and also a letter faxed to our office that the hearing notice was sent out in error. There is no intent on the part of the County to sell any of the Leeds Pond Preserve property.

The hearing has been called for the express purpose of granting an easement to the Manhasset-Lakeville Water District to install a new 1700 foot water main underground at the northern boundary of the Leeds Pond Preserve. This new main will connect existing dead end mains from Aspen Gate and Morgan Court, and Papermill Road to Plandome Road. I have been assured by Mr. Rainey that this is considered a low impact project.

We will have someone representing the Village at this meeting to ensure this information is accurate.

Please call the Village office @627-3701 if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Barbara Donno, Mayor
